Homesick
03:35
|
|||
when does a home become a home?
how do I find one?
does it take many tries?
is it even something you find?
when does a house become a home?
when is a town your own?
is it when you know all the streets?
does it take three years or can you know by a week?
home to me
new baked bread with butter and cheese
mint toothpaste and mums lipstick
with the sound of her voice as she sings me to sleep
I’m grown up now
gotta find my own way some how
I don’t know
where I’ll go
and I don’t know
if am I supposed to?
homesick
cus my idea of home
is changing
is it inside four walls?
is it a forest, the mountains
or being on the road?
is it finding someone to love?
is it peace
to grow older?
how do you know
this is the place my apple tree will grow

Liza

Liza sits in her room
letting the day go by
watching specks of dust
as they’re floating around
enjoying the warmth from the sun
through her dirty windows
must have been years
since somebody cared
chewing a strawberry chewing gum
running barefoot in the sun
Liza goes downstairs
looking for Love
finds the sound of a clock
so she makes a cup
hundreds of Sundays ago
she knows
she’d be out the door
with a summer dress on
chewing a strawberry chewing gum
running barefoot in the sun

From Earth To Hand
04:43
|
|||
you’ll find her in the garden with her hands in the earth
pouring her love into the soil
it’s a matter of giving and then you receive
it’s simple, she says, and so it is
today she is picking a broccoli,
half eaten, but she doesn’t mind
when sharing comes naturally
no living shall go hungry
from earth to hand
from hand to mouth
from mouth to stomach
from stomach to blood
from blood to heart
from heart to soul
from soul to soul
it goes on and on

Doing
05:25
|
|||
morning
sleeping
still
breathing
blinking
slowly
awakening
start the engine
‘is it raining?’
getting dressed
hoping I wont get wet
where did I
leave my keys?
eating brushing packing
and then I leave
doing stuff
and believe me
I’m trying
running down the stairs
and then up again
because I keep forgetting
then I go
biking, turning, stopping, locking
hoping, waiting
looking, running late
but entering smiling
spending, longing, talking, wishing, dreaming,
drinking
buying, standing, walking, waiting in line
listening, receiving, sharing
caring, thinking, spending
considering
choosing, avoiding
trying, doing
home again
I close my door
wiring down
breathing breathing breathing

We Got Lost
03:31
|
|||
I thought you were a forest
full of mystery
with hidden tracks and rivers
waiting to be seen
I wanted to go deep
and you let me
find my way and settle down
in the calm breeze
I got lost, in the beauty
I got lost, in the dream
I got lost, in you
you are not a forest
you’re what moves the sea
you blossom on the open fields
untamable and free
I tried to hold on
with both hands
thought you needed safety
but that was me
you got lost in the beauty
you got lost in my love
you got lost with me
thank you for the dance
it was a lovely dance

Traveller
05:57
|

looking out
on the world
through the eyes
of a traveller
a father crossing the street
his daughter on his belly
people passing
the smell of peppermint, wet ground and cigarettes
a woman in high heels
and a refill coffee cup
a mother snapping and
an old woman rolling her eyes
three dogs and the Christmas shop
a drunk and someone running to catch the bus
a couple
not talking
walking home
a guy in shorts
it’s november
they’re not talking
green hair
a pierced nose
wet ground
short skirts
I am the woman in high heels
I am rolling my eyes
I am the mother snapping
I am working in the Christmas shop
I am the buyer
I am the moon
I am the couple walking home
eyes fixed on the ground
I am looking into my phone all day long
I am her behind the cafe window
I am you
on the other side of the world

meeting my baby out on the street
it’s been a week
the smell of his hair and the way he moves
familiar but blue
shoulder to shoulder one meter a part
our bodies
out of synch
we walk and we walk
try to walk things off
talk in metaphors
can you take your sunglasses off?
I really wanna see your eyes
can we turn this distance off?
I really wanna say goodbye
surrounded by couples
dressed for restaurants
all eyes are on us
we’re walking in circles
talking in circles
staying there
cuz I don’t want to end this
I didn’t think we’d end this
way
can you take your sunglasses off?
I really wanna see your eyes
can we turn this distance off?
I really wanna say goodbye
lemon water
cold cold showers
melting hugs
all but trust
You don’t want to hurt me
you say you don’t want to hurt me
